An Open Letter to His Honorable Bhumibol Adulyadej

Dear King of Thailand. Rama IX, the ninth monarch of the Chakri Dynasty. I thank God for your example to the world of a leader who is truly loved by his people, and honored and respected by all the leaders of the world. I have been a guest in your country many times with my family and have many Thai friends. The Thai people I know are some of the most kind people on earth. I pray for you and your country often, especially lately with the recent attacks upon your nation, for these event breaks my heart and I know yours as well.
The reason I am writing this letter is to bring you a story of Thai courage and good news, because often people say, “How can these terrible things be stopped, and how can we protect our friends and families from such senseless evil?” Therefore, I want to relate to you the true story of my dear Thai sister, “Jip”, one who truly honored the King.

jantanaJantana (Jip) also her friends called her “Karen” What was so special about her life? She actively reached out to the Hui Muslims of China and Thailand in true love and concern. Though she was a Christian, she had many families and even entire Hui Muslim and Ho (Thai Hui) villages that she was welcome in! She was a Christian ambassador of the Prince of Peace, Jesus to give the leaders their very first Bibles. Mariko relays: “ Jip was the first living & breathing true Christian servant of God that I knew of. She was such a clumsy person and she was nothing near perfect. However, her life was a real miracle for me because from her life, I have learnt that God doesn’t care about perfection. He only cares about the heart because He is Love.
Jip kept going to China with only one reason and that was love. She really loved Jesus that much and she had this love in her life always. It was the love that all could feel, no matter where, when, or who they were. And because of this love, when she had any problems, people near and far were ready to help her. She had this sincerity and simplicity that I have not seen in any other Christians. She always won people’s heart, not with her wit or knowledge, but with humility and constant love. If I have to explain about God to you, I will show you her life story. That will be the shortest and clearest explanation.
I will not forget this sister and all the good things she has done for me. I hope to see her again in the place she called “heaven”.

Yesterday morning, August 23, 2016, I knew I needed to write this Blog article because I had a dream, “It was a long dream but in the last part, a Thai lady came up to me with a bucket of water, and for a minute, I thought it was Jip but it wasn’t and I began to cry, but she looked at me and I could tell she was a comforting angel and set the bucket down for me to be used as a Water Splashing Blessing” in writing this article to the King of Thailand.”
Testimony from Bill

….
Her conversion was unusual, just like Jip. Mary and I were alone at our storefront building one afternoon in Korat. The Thai team had gone to a village to witness. One of the Technical Colleges let out and the students were walking by. Mary and I were sitting on a stone bench at the front of the church so we could see everyone that passed by in case someone wanted to talk. A little college student in her college uniform rushed into the building (like a little chick that we found out was her name) and began to talk a mile a minute. She said: “I want to know how to be a Christian and I only have ten minutes.” Mary and I shared with her, she quickly said she believed, and we prayed with her. A Thai Chinese young woman who was a new convert came in and we had her also talk with Jip in case our Thai didn’t get through to Jip. Jip turned around to rush out and I insisted that I walk home with her. In fact, I wanted to see where she lived because I was not sure we would ever see her again. The speed with which she said she believed was certainly not the norm in Thailand.
So, I walked home with her across the street and through an orchard area. As soon as the Thai Christians returned I showed them where Jip lived and they contacted her. She showed up for worship on Sunday.

Mary began to disciple her along with Pongsak and others. She quickly jumped into all of the activities of the church. When Mary talked to her about baptism she was worried about what her family would say. She asked Mary in a typical Jip question: “Mary can I baptize myself in the big ong (water pot) that is in our bathroom?” When she was actually baptized we almost didn’t get her head under water. So, everyone kidded her that the top of her head was un- baptized.”Over the years, especially when she was in China, we talked by Skype almost every week. She continued the same type of relationship ministry that she had learned. She would send me her newsletter in Thai so I could help her translate it into English. I have always been amazed at how God used Jip. God placed in her great optimism that with His help she could do anything: finish Seminary, speak English, learn Chinese, teach English & Thai in a university, and on and on. God has used this “Little Chick” to astound the wise (1 Cor. 1:27-29).

When I found out she had colon cancer I began to talk with her about the incredible resurrection relationship that we Christians have with God. Many people talk about being resurrected after we die. However, Jip and I talked about living out the resurrection BEFORE we die. Several times we discussed Philippians 3:10: Knowing HIM, the power of HIS resurrection, the fellowship of HIS suffering, being conformed to HIS death. We talked about the importance of knowing His resurrection, suffering, death . . . not our resurrection, suffering, death. I believe Jip experienced this incredible resurrection relationship with Christ during her last days as she trusted Him. I believe God surrounded Jip with His resurrection even as she walked through the valley of the shadow of death.

Testimony from Don and Lynn
Dear Mariko, friends and family, of Jip,
We have felt it to be such a privilege to be a friend of Jip’s. “Uncle Don and Auntie Lynn” – as she called us! She certainly was a warrior for Jesus – she never gave up and continued strong in her
race right to the end! Prayer was the mainstay of her life. She would always ask us – “What can I pray for you today?” In the last 2 years, no matter what the ache, pain or problem that was happening,
her next words would be, “Auntie Lynn, would you pray for me?”

Joy and love was what her life was about. Jip loved life, the life that God had given her!  She continually gave that life away –  each day that she lived. She loved people and each person alive was a friend that she just hadn’t met yet- a friend that needed to meet Jesus. Jip was a giver – not only giving out God’s love, and His joy and peace, but she gave of her material possessions to all she knew and met. Many times she gave away – not thinking of her own needs.   She did this right up until recently. As sick as Jip was, she was still thinking of other’s needs and caring for others. Jip trusted Jesus in everything! She was such an example to all who knew her – not letting any day go by without sharing with each person.  She “walked with Jesus” every moment of the day, living each day as if it were her last.

We are so thankful for Jip and we pray that we take that example of the life she lived
to be God’s powerful instruments, as Jip was, for the King. “Well done, good and faithful servant” will be what Jip is hearing from her Savior.  We shall miss Jip but we know that we shall be with her one day in Heaven!
Love and blessings,
Don and Lynn

Testimony from Tim & Belle

Dear Mariko and her other friends and family,
I count it such an honor to have known Jip (Karen), after I had heard she
had passed away, I was at a church service and in my heart had a vision of
her leaping, and singing and shouting with the energy and joy only Jip
could generate! 5

She was one of the few people in the world and even fewer Thai people who
> realized that only the love of Jesus can change this world for the better.
> She shared the love of Jesus with everyone, and especially those who have
> many walls around their lives so it’s difficult to share with them, like
> her Muslim friends and neighbors. In a fearful world of bombs and cycles
> of violence, Jip always showed faith is the answer.
>
> Many people run away in fear, but not Jip (Karen), for she was chosen by
> the Lord to take on a challenge of love and she was faithful to the end
> and therefore, she has the crown of life now promised by Jesus, and His
> joy forever. I thank God for her, and every since person who helped her
> along her path. We look forward to seeing her again in glory forever.
Much love,

Tim & Belle,

Finally, I share these few stories to encourage you that she found the way to bring real Peace to your country, it was in the Love of Jesus. Before she died, she had been trying to help my wife, Belle to set up a special concert in Thailand along with Joan and Allan Eubank of Chiang Mai. We would still like to do this in honor of Jip and in Honor of you, and to bring honor to God by allowing Him to pour out a special blessing on your country.

Thank you and may God pour our Great Peace and Blessing on Thailand,

Warmest Regards,

Timothy
